Nothing Left of Me

I dance with you Father
I breath your breath with each inhale
And return it to Thee
Inflow and outflow, one breath is all there be
Thank you for this experience unfolding as Me
Even The Child, nothing before Thee
Only Thee and the Heart of Thee
With no sense of self, no arrogance left, only Thee.
And the Love that Is. This is my prayer, nothing left of me.

Oh Sweet Presence

Oh sweet presence, I breath You into the heart
I abide in consciousness, as consciousness
Transcending consciousness and all things in it
Being all that arises and falls
Until the world is outshined
By the Bright of Self

Life is a Metaphor

As one begins and lives the journey in time, and walks the path of return, it becomes more and more apparent that life is a metaphor, our own story of remembrance. Life is “our” story of the return to freedom and the end of bondage. There is the historical story of Moses and his climb up the mountain of revelation, receiving the revelation that where he stands is holy ground; he comes down the mountain and brings the Hebrews out of Egypt, out of bondage and slavery, with the message of giving up all idols and making only God the only God. He tries like hell to share the good news. There is the story of Jesus, and his temptations, he had his mountain time too. He came down from the peak of his mountain, free of temptation to believe that which is not true is true and then began his ministry, the sharing of the good news to his subjective world. He tried like hell and gave the extreme example. Throughout linear time, in all cultures, whether Native American, Toltec, Egyptian, there are the stories of redemption and return. Jesus and his instruction, called the Course in Miracles, is the example, the way to Find. This is a Wisdom teaching. It is a guide to help the reader to find the Same. His Easter story is the story of return. His time on the cross was and is no longer necessary. It is done. That story is ours.

We need but die each moment to the belief that we are the body. We find that which never really occurred in Reality and we live this Awakening in the world by sharing the good news. This is just what the course says. To have All, give all. To have peace, give peace. What is it that the reader wants? What is the Purpose of Life? What is everything really for? Find this for yourself. Commit and move beyond willingness. Be gentle with yourselves, be patient, and know all that you truly ask for and believe in your heart cannot but come true. The mystery is uncovered, found for ourselves; the outside story is the reader’s story. My story is your story. It is all the same. There is only one Self. We listen to the guides along the way. The honest guide is the one that tells you that the Guide without is always the guide within. Your very own Self is leading the way for you and in the end, you find yourself That.

The Heart of Love

The Heart, bright and light, is Love and Love is the Heart, Very God. The road to this Sacred Abode is one of letting go the old notions of who and what we believe we are. It is the letting go of being something "special" into the Bright Transcendent Love of all beings. We first must find ourselves established in equanimity, so that attention can continually be placed in the heart that is our authentic identity. This is the Child, the Holy Spirit. Fear is the block which must be voluntarily surrendered. The Child-Heart-Truth waits in patience. Only in trust can the gentle heart be reborn anew into that which is always one's Condition and transcendent radiance. Acknowleding and surrender to the Holy truth of being "within" and "without," letting go all self concept, is the process by which one finds the sacred blessing and truth That is the Vision for oneself and your world. This need not be a long and arduous road, albeit it seems that this is the way most choose. It was this way for me.
The heart is Single and One and this is the final attainment. From here, with no concept of self as real remaining, we find ourselves living the Balance of Transcendent Being appearing in the mind of being as a companion, guide, friend and wayshower, sharing the good news, that the kingdom of God is at hand for all those "who have ears to hear."
Blessings and good tidings, devoted to you.

I am Home and share the Good News

It is the experience and realization of these words that is The Heart of the teaching of ACIM.

I am the Heart of God born into this world to share the Good News of Freedom, Happiness and Love.   bruce david

 t-18.IX.9-14
This world of light, this circle of brightness is the real world, where guilt meets forgiveness. Here the world outside is seen anew, without the shadow of guilt upon it. Here are you forgiven, for here you have forgiven everyone. Here is the new perception, where everything is bright and shining with innocence, washed in the waters of forgiveness, and cleansed of every evil thought you laid upon it. Here there is no attack upon the Son of God, and you are welcome. Here is your innocence, waiting to clothe you and protect you, and make you ready for the final step in the journey inward. Here are the dark and heavy garments of guilt laid by, and gently replaced by purity and love.
Yet even forgiveness is not the end. Forgiveness does make lovely, but it does not create. It is the source of healing, but it is the messenger of love and not its Source. Here you are led, that God God Himself can take the final step unhindered, for here does nothing interfere with love, letting it be itself. A step beyond this holy place of forgiveness, a step still further inward but the one "you" cannot take, transports you to something completely different. Here is the Source of Light; nothing perceived forgiven nor transformed. But merely Known.
This course will lead to knowledge, but knowledge itself is still beyond the scope of our curriculum. Nor is there any need for us to try to speak of what must forever lie beyond words. We need remember only that whoever attains the real world, beyond which learning cannot go, will go beyond it, but in a different way. Where learning ends there God begins, for learning ends before Him Who is complete where He begins, and where there is no end. It is not for us to dwell on what cannot be attained. There is too much to learn. the readiness for knowledge still must be attained.
Love is not learned. Its meaning lies within itself. And learning ends when you have recognized all it is NOT. That is the interference; that is what needs to be undone. Love is not learned, because there never was a time in which you knew it not. Learning is useless in the Presence of your Creator, Whose acknowledgment of you and yours of Him so far transcend all learning that everything you learned is meaningless, replaced forever by the knowledge of love and its one meaning.
Your relationship with your brother has been uprooted from the world of shadows, and it unholy purpose has been safely brought through the barriers of guilt, washed with forgiveness, and set shining and firmly rooted in the world of light. From there it calls to you to follow the course it took, lifted high above the darkness and gently placed before the gates of Heaven. The holy instant in which you and your brother were united is but the messenger of love, sent from beyond forgiveness to remind you of all that lies beyond it. Yet it is through forgiveness that it will be remembered.
And when the memory of God has come to you in the holy place of forgiveness you will remember nothing else, and memory will be as useless as learning, for your only purpose will be creating. Yet this you cannot know until every perception has been cleansed and purified, and finally removed forever. Forgiveness removes only the untrue, lifting the shadows from the world and carrying it, safe and sure within its gentleness, to the bright world of new and clean perception. There is your purpose now. And it is there that peace awaits you.

My Confession

My Confession:

The glimpses would come and go; depression would set in as the wonder vanished from my awareness.  Where did the peace go, I would ponder and ask myself, ask God.  Then would begin the next round of trying to understand, sad, doubting, angry, and as I mentioned, I would sink into periods of deep unhappiness.  It was like experiencing the most wondrous thing in the world and then losing it.  It is beyond the words to explain but I know that there are those reading these words who understand.  But in spite of these periods and because of them, I would turn my attention, the best that I could, away from the heaviness of mind, pick up my pen (later, the computer keyboard) and enter into my journal tending discipline of getting into a new mode of mentation, the mode that is the Child’s way to think and believe.  I would write and live with the expectation of Joy’s return.  (I was taught this by William Samuel, echoed by other teachings, A Course In Miracles included.)

I acknowledge ACIM and William Samuel as the two main teachings pointing to the simplicity of this experience I am.  Along the way, there have been many wonderful teachers and teachings of all shades and colors, all pointers that have accumulated into the Realization that has taken place.  But, the Real teacher of all is the Child “within” which appears simultaneously “without” bringing, sharing, being and Is the good news of Innocence, Freedom and Happiness.  It is the Child we are, the very awareness of God that includes every teaching and teacher within Itself, all being the Child’s sequential unfolding (the linear experience of time and space) and simultaneous confirmation or delineation that makes plain the Presence of God and His Son in the Play of Self-Being.

As time passed and my confidence increased, trust given reign, confirmation upon confirmation finally bringing my old recalcitrant nature to the cliff of surrender, I was willing and jumped into the abyss of credulousness.  I was willing to trust with all my heart and soul, that what I was “seeing” and “hearing” was indeed true and made the decision to believe that only Good is going on in spite of appearances to the contrary.  Out of the abyss I have begun to speak, share and live the vision that was born out of the willingness to surrender and Find.

I find myself from time to time with a fleck of mis-perception, my opportunity to take the walk of Calvary and Find myself ever more and more the Living Child of God and realizing that there is only This and This includes the awareness reading these words.  With my life dedicated only to this and the honest living of this, I find myself urged in the joyous “what to do” mode of ‘being’ and sharing the good news of Christ reborn for Mankind and his world.

The doubt, sadness and fear have been sublimated, mere dust particles disappearing in the Light of Truth, disappearing as the gap between one glimpse and another disappears, the holy instant evaporating the belief that time is real.

This is my confession to my world.  I am about my Father’s business.  I
am about the undoing of every block that stands between the concept of ourselves and the Light of love and wisdom.

Awakening in the Meadow: The Adventure and Experience of Self-Discovery

By Bruce David, 2006

Introduction

In my mind’s eye, The Meadow became the place where the Child lives.
It didn’t become this way because I dreamed it this way.
It was this way from the beginning, and I only slowly learned it, line upon line, precept upon precept.  Here a little, there a little.  You will comprehend everything that is being said here the same way.”

Bill Samuel, 1993 (author of “The Child Within Us Lives”)

What exactly is The Meadow, Who is this Child, how does one fit it?  What is the Equation and how does The Child view the world?  How can I find Peace and Contentment?  What must I do?  These questions are answered as best that I can within the pages of Awakening in the Meadow.  The answer to all these questions and much more are found within the Heart of the reader.  The authority lies with the Awareness that is doing the reading.  Listen with the heart of a child, relax your intellectual itch and lighten the mental desire for finding something that will finally bring you peace.  The Peace that you are looking for is the Peace that you already are.  It is not so much a finding but a letting go of the false beliefs that we have about ourselves.  It is the surrender of the ego, the mistaken identity that slows the Light of Identity and the concomitant Contentment to be Felt and Known.

So to continue with this journey, this exploration of Self discovery,
please enter and find each topic of importance within these pages.
Listen and read gently, with the Heart and simplicity of a child.

There is much that is written these days concerning Enlightenment, Liberation, and the awakening from the dream of the linear experience.  Almost all of it is a non-dualist or absolute subjective view that avers the linear experience as nothing more than a dream.  These absolutists also aver that all is illusion and there is no real purpose to the tangible experience.  All takes place because of a Cosmic Law.  There is only Subjective Witnessing.

Well now, I have found something different or rather it has found me.  I have found a Balance between the Subjective Truth and this objective experience of linear time and space.  In The Gospel According to Thomas, Jesus is quoted: “Why do you wash the outside of the cup?  Do you not understand that he who made the inside is also he who made the outside?”

The Child or Soul is The Balance and we live our Genuine child Identity right here in the objective world.  No, the objective world is not real but it is not an illusion either.  The tangible arena is the place of Confirmation.  It is God’s own Self description going on.  As awareness itself, we view the vistas of tangibility and know that we are looking into the Mind of God.  And we know that all is Good despite the seeming appearances.  We learn the meaning of contradistinction and the reason for why the world appears the way it does.  We also know that we are looking at our own Selfhood images to infinity and learn of The Equation.  We give unto the “others” of our Subjective Self.  “Love thy brother as thy soul, guard him as the apple of thine eye.” (Jesus, The Gospel According to Thomas)  As Awareness we realize that the inside and the outside are a two that are a single one, just as the Lights of the world have admonished.

This treatise is about awakening in The Meadow.  It is about awakening from the myth or hypothetical sense of an identity that would believe itself to be the possessor of awareness instead of being the Divine Awareness of the Ineffable.  I invite you to explore, investigate and determine for yourself whether or not these words are true for you.  Put them to the test and find out for yourself.  I also invite you to contact me with any questions that you may have regarding this subject matter.

Once again from The Gospel According to Thomas, Jesus said: “Let him who seeks not cease seeking until he finds, and when he finds, he will be troubled, and when he has been troubled, he will marvel and he will reign over the All.”

Happy exploration and finding,

Bruce David Dubin

TRIBUTE TO WILLIAM SAMUEL

Tribute: a gift or service showing respect, gratitude, or affection.
Something (as material evidence or a formal attestation) that
indicates the worth, virtue or effectiveness of the one in question.
(Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary)

How can I possibly acknowledge the gratitude and love that I have for William (Bill) Samuel?  I will give it a try.

Who was (is) Bill Samuel?  Bill was an image within this Awareness I am.  He was a teacher, friend, guide, and very much a father to me.  Bill was the objective appearing of Myself, one who was aware of The Child within and identified himself as That Child or Soul of God.  The Child Being Bill is the same Child I Am.  The same Child found within and as the Awareness that is presently reading these words.

The Meadow is a name that Bill Samuel gave to this linear experience of time and space when apperceived Subjectively.  Perhaps the Garden of Eden written about my Moses speaks of this same Meadow.  The Meadow is where The Children play and work and raise families with delight and genuine enthusiasm.  It is where innocence, peace and helpfulness reign and the Genuine Identity of us finds its birthright and original heritage.

Bill Samuel helped me find The Child of myself and The Meadow and this paper is dedicated to The Child of Us All.  It is my attempt to publish for my Subjective world what has been shown to me.  It is my way of completing the Interface and living the transaction that is The Equation.  It is the Child’s Way that Bill taught me and I pass it along to My Subjective selfhood.

When you make the two one, and when you make the inner as the outer and the outer as the inner and the above as the below…then shall you enter the kingdom.”  (Jesus, The Gospel According to Thomas.)

THE CHILD

The Child is the genuine, original and authentic Identity, the Divine Imprint, the Soul of God made in the Image of God.  Called by any name you like, the Child is God’s own Self Awareness.  The Child is also the Glimpse, the Light breaking through as we begin to intuit, acknowledge and answer the invitation, and She knows what to do with these glimpses and glimmers.  (See The Meadow)

The Child I Am is God’s Self-Witnessing, the Knowing of Deity in action.  God is The Knower, The Child (awareness) is The Knowing and the objective world of people, places and things is The Known.  These three are a single one.

Our real Identity is The Child and he/she lives as the Balance, the Portal or Gateway between the Ineffable Presence and Its tangible depiction.   The Child lives and is lived as this point in time and space and says, “I live in the world and the world lives in this Awareness I am, and all that is perceived is included within and as this Awareness of Deity.”

This original Identity lives and has its being in God.  God is the Source of this Child-Consciousness which is the Subjective Truth and Subjective Identity which is the Supernal Heart of Deity.  The Child lives as Subjective Witnessing right here in the objective world.  The Meadow is where the Child views the qualities and attributes of Itself and The Ineffable.  These qualities and attributes are the description, the out-picturing, and the Knowing of God and His Awareness.  The description and out-picturing is not God, but the holographic image of God and His Self-Knowing.  It is the image of the Unseen and Unknowable Source.

The way The Child lives in the world (The Meadow) is called the Divine Equation.  (For an in depth account of “The Equation”, see The Meadow.)  These three, The Child, The Equation, and Subjectivity are the three secrets spoken of by the Mystics and Ancients of the world.  It is now time for them to be found by the Whole of Quantum Man.

For there is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed and there is nothing covered that shall remain without being uncovered.” (Jesus, Gospel According to Thomas)

The incipient subjective intuition starts with the concept that everything is appearing within one’s head, so to speak.  After all, what we see, hear, think, feel and believe comes to us by way of the photon (light) that is bringing information from “outside” us via our senses.  Our brain filters that information, and interpretations about the world are then made based on our personal belief system.  In other words, what we believe and expect to see is what appears in the “field of infinite possibilities”.

This is how it was for me with my intellectual and conceptual understanding when I first began my subjective studies.  As time went on, this Insight grew into the Realization that the brain, the body and all objects of perception are included within and as this Awareness I am.  There is only this Awareness that is the perceiving and functioning of a Presence that is unseen and unknown, and this Presence is intuited and Self-confirmed continually tending to Its own functioning perfectly and lovingly.

The Child’s secret of Subjective living is the realization that all that is perceived as “out” there is really within Oneself and as oneself.  This realization begins slowly and grows precept upon precept, a little here and a little there.  It seems to coincide with the dismantling and unveiling of the me-sense, that notorious nothing that wants to be something.

These words will seem very dualistic to the absolute subjectivist of Myself.  But even the absolutist cannot deny the seeming path of many steps that he takes to the “Cliff of Surrender”.  For most people, they stop somewhere along the way becoming comfortable with their religion, metaphysics, spiritual studies, therapies and psychologies.  But for those “others” who feel the Divine discontent within, there is an ongoingness where the willing and childlike take that final step off the “Cliff” into the “Abyss of Credulousness” to once and for all confirm for themselves that there is indeed a Presence present right here tending, protecting and loving them.

As previously mentioned, Identity/I as Awareness looks upon the qualities and attributes of the Ineffable.  And so, The Child I Am thinks, believes and acts like the child of my early years, prior to the veil of the suppositious image and the belief system that seems to be constructed, covering the Child’s/child’s innocence, trust, spontaneity, imagination, and non-judging credulousness.

The Child I Am has learned to look into the world of Self-confirmation and live the understanding of contradistinction.  Everything that arises and appears delineates the Good that is Already at hand.  This is confirmed over and over countless times.  No matter what the seeming, I take the stand that the shadow of the tree is not the real tree, but is the image leading to the tree that is source of the shadow.  When I am aware of what the me-sense might call “bad” or “not good enough”, or whatever the judgment might be, I look for the “good” that is delineated.  Even the deceiving me-sense itself delineates The Child I Am.  How can we know what sweet is without its opposite of sour?  How about male/female, inside/outside, above/below, first/last, honesty/dishonesty?  How could we know about the stars in the sky if it were not for the darkness of the night that delineates them?

The man is like a wise fisherman who casts his net into the sea, he drew it up from the sea full of small fish; among them he found a large and good fish, that wise fisherman, he threw all the small fish down into the sea, he chose the large fish without regret.  Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”  (Jesus, The Gospel According to Thomas)

There was a paradigm that I lived by, to the best that I could, and I still continue to do so in those times when it seems that this Awareness I am is in need of help.  I say, “Okay, Child.  If God is good, and God is love, if God is All, then how does this seeming suffering or situation fit into this definition?”  And I spend time writing and listening for the answer.  I do this with childlike expectancy and anticipation that the answer will follow and that the answer will reveal how it is good beyond what the intellect might expect.  Another practice and statement I use is, “Now See Here, what is really going on?  Right now, this instant, for there is no other time; and right here, for there is no other Place, what is really going on?  What is it that I really see?”  And as I do this, expecting and believing that only God/Good is on the scene and being the scene, the contradistinctive nature and meaning of tangibility makes itself plain to me.

Blessed is he who shall stand at the beginning, and he shall know the end and he shall not taste death.”  “Blessed is he who was before he came into being.”  (The Gospel According to Thomas)

Awareness is the beginning and we stay there, which is right here, to the best that we can.  We learn to do this, trusting more as we did when we were Children/children.  We become childlike and we trust and believe that our Father/Mother God will tend to us as our parents tended to us in those very early years.  We did not have to worry about where our next meal was coming from.  We were clothed, sheltered and given everything we needed.  We were loved, simply loved and cared for.  It is here at this beginning that we become willing to look at “our” world with unveiled eyes, the eyes of an innocent child, and low and behold, we begin to see “a new found world”.

The Child lives the Divine discipline of Unveiling the me-sense and its concomitant belief system and self-image.  This belief system and image accumulates over time with one experience after another adding to the mirage of being.  Just as it appears that we move and live sequentially with the images becoming more and more opaque, so too do we undo, unmask and unveil the mistaken identity bit by bit.  But this is just how it appears; because the Presence and The Child We Are has always been here awaiting our acknowledgement and call.  The discipline is to make it all the way to the “Cliff of Surrender” and the “Abyss of Credulousness” and not to stop until we find Ourselves at The Child’s peak of the “Mountain of Understanding”, perfectly balanced, the Door midway between the Unseen and the Seen.

THE MEADOW

We awaken as The Child in The Meadow and we clap our hands with joy and celebration.  We look upon the Meadow with the eyes of innocence, compassion, imagination and spontaneity.  We leap from flower to flower with excitement, enthusiasm and anticipation of the next joy we are to discover.

We are always in The Meadow, albeit not consciously.  We realize The Meadow when we awaken from the dream of mortality, from the dream that we are a man or a woman, that we are this body.  We awaken from the sense and concept of a “me’ that would play the role of possessor of awareness.

The Meadow has been called heaven on earth.  It has been call The Kingdom within and without, the Garden of Eden.  It is our home, right here and now as we live as a tangible point of Light.

The Meadow is the Place where the adult of us has found The Child and lives with childlikeness.  We live with credulousness knowing that we are attended to and taken care of.  It is here that we live the Divine Discipline, The Equation, and we live as the Subjective Witness and Witnessing.

Yes, we eat, sleep, and tend to the body.  We still go to the bathroom, take a poop and brush our teeth.  We still earn a living.  But we earn this living with less stress, strain and concern.  We earn our living with joy and love in our hearts; with gentleness because our work becomes part of The Equation.

The Meadow is the living Equation.  We look and see that life is The Equation in action.  The Equation is the Transaction of giving and receiving that we complete at the point of the Interface between the inside and the outside.

The Equation is found throughout nature.  Look at a tree.  It starts as a seed and the seed gives a small giving of itself, the first giving in the form of a rootlet to the earth, and the earth responds with its giving of nourishment back to the seed.  The seed then gives a second time as it sends a stem of itself upward toward the sky.  The sky responds with its gift of light to the stem and seed. The branches and leaves form, the tree grows, and gives of itself back to the sky in the form of oxygen and a place where squirrels and birds can build their nests.  And the universe continues to give of its light and nourishment for the ongoing prosperity of the tree.

Give the things of Caesar to Caesar, give the things of God to God, and give Me what is mine”.  (Jesus, The Gospel According to Thomas)

Just so, The Child we are lives The Equation.  We give to our Subjective world our tangible substance and we receive back from our world the supply that we seem to need.  This means that we give the bag of potatoes to the hungry, and we clothe and give shelter to those who need our help.  For as it has been said, “As we give to others, so shall it be given to us”.  For when we give to our “others” we give to our Subjective Self.  And because the tangible substance we give is Love in action, that love is returned with more Glimpses of Light and Love.

Just like the seed, there is a second giving that we do.  It is the giving back of these glimpses of Light to our subjective world.  And as we do this we receive more glimpses, more light, more joy.

Once again we can see the balance and equation of the two that are a single one.  We give our gifts both tangibly and spiritually and receive our gifts both tangibly and spiritually.

One cannot know this is a marvel to do until he has done it and lived it so.  This is a Self-protected secret.”  (William Samuel, The Child Within Us Lives)

The Meadow is also the Place where we learn to live as Unjudging Awareness.  We let go of blame, guilt, labeling and arrogance.  We let go of playing the victim and victimizer.  We come back to childlike simplicity and innocence.

How do we find The Meadow?  How do we find that which is already here spread over the whole land, but men perceive it not?  It is right here where we already are, but is it veiled, like the clouds which cover the present moon that can’t be seen.  How do I explain in words that which is beyond words and concepts?  How do I use words to describe that which cannot be seen with the eye nor heard with the ear?  I can point to the moon, but the finger and the pointing are not it.  It can only be discerned and intuited with The Heart of us, The Child of us.

Jesus said, “I will give you what eye has not seen and what ear has not heard and what hand has not touched and what has not arisen in the heart of man.”  (The Gospel According to Thomas)

The Meadow is the linear experience, the sequential unfolding of That which is Timeless and nameless as it appears in time and space, measured, described and named.

The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.
The named is the mother of ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one can see the manifestations.”
(Lao Tsu, Tao Te Ching)

How does one go about describing the Ineffable which is beyond reason and logic?  We can only find the Child and The Meadow when we undo the misperception which veils the Presence already at hand.  And that veil is the me-sense, the possessor of awareness.

The Meadow is the Promised Land.  It is here and now.  The Light of The Meadow shines through because The Meadow is the Light of God.  The glimpse of Light grows brighter, The Meadow becomes clearer and It becomes more evident and obvious until one day we say, “This is It”.  I am The Child living in The Meadow.  The Light of The Meadow is the Glimpse and the glimpse is The Child emerging from The Meadow.  The Glimpse breaks through the shell, the hardened crust of the “old man”, the me-sense, the one who is searching for that which is already his birthright and inheritance.  It is life more abundant.

Let me tell you a paradox,” Han said to the soldier.  “The world in which we awaken each morning is not the Real World; it is an image of the Real.  But those who know the world is an image of the Real, wake up in the Real World every day.  This is a paradox and it is the truth.”  (William Samuel, The Child Within Us Lives)

THE ME-SENSE

The me-sense is a fiction, a mis-identity, an impostor, a hypothetical self.  It has been said that man is hypnotized and believes he is an identity that he is not.  The me-sense is the belief that I, as a person, or even that I as awareness, am the possessor of life/awareness.  The me-sense says, “This is my life, my awareness”, and it would have life report to itself instead of life reporting to Its Rightful and Authentic Source, God.

This fictional identity has been written and spoken of as the “doer” of life.  And it is this doer that is the veil of ignorance.  It is this doer, this pseudo-identity that is to be uncovered, surrendered, and seen for the nothingness that it is.  The me-sense is the inward egoic “I” and this notion of “I” is the belief that the body/mind consciousness, the person, personality, this life, is me and mine.  It is the belief of an independent and separate existence.  It is this “I” that believes it was born and will one day die.

This spurious sense of self is obdurate, arrogant and recalcitrant.  That is quite a mouthful of words and this mis-identity is quite a mouthful of nonsense.  It takes an ongoing earnest desire and a tenacious nature of the seeker to unveil and subdue the me-sense.  It takes a willingness of heart to surrender all that one believes is valuable and to make God the All of all.

Very few are willing to sublimate the passions, lusts and addictions of the me-sense.  These passions are like a ring through our nose that pulls us from here to there.  The unwillingness lies in the fact that giving up the would-be-possessor and its passions feels a little bit like death.  And it is.  Every move we make to dismantle, undo, and unveil the me-sense is a move closer to the death of the ego.  In truth, there is no death of the ego since it is but a belief, although it does feel this way to the me-sense, and it is very frightening consciously, but mostly unconsciously, until we are willing to witness and watch its peregrinations and machinations.

So how does the me-sense and its belief system begin?  (Remember that this is part of the Divine Plan of Self-discovery and the reason for it is discussed in other sections.)  To briefly scratch the intellectual itch, I ask this question: Would the prince born into wealth and unending abundance who never left his castle to journey amongst the poor of the countryside feel as much gratitude, joy and appreciation for what he has as would the prince who did make this journey?

Running it back sequentially from the beginning to the time of our emergence into this linear experience as a baby, we grew and lived our first 15 months or so as the Child/child.  We were tended to and cared for and we were without concern or fear.  The world we lived in was not conceptually believed to be separate from ourselves, and all was well.  All was as it was.  Perfect.  As we grew, the concept of the outside world developed and mom and dad were now seen as separate and apart from ourselves.  We still lived and moved about spontaneously, joyously with imagination at every juncture.  We believed in miracles and found that our caregivers, our parents, were there still tending to our every need and desire.  Until...The beginning of disappointment and disillusionment began to arise when we were told that we should or should not do this or that.  Slowly, all by divine plan, we began to believe that all was not well and there were things that we had to watch out for.  “If I do this, I might get in trouble.  I better do this or that so mom or dad won’t be mad at me.”  And so it began that the inner sense of “I” started to develop an image based on the beliefs, fears and judgments of others.  The deeper sense of isolation, guilt and separation begins to develop at this point.  The innocence of the Child/child becomes veiled, covered over by this hypothetical and wounded image of self.  Any vestige of the Subjective Truth, albeit it is not intellectually understood by the child, is further veiled and is all but covered by the fiction of a me-sense that becomes more strengthened and supported by the hypnotized collective consciousness of society and the world.

At this point, as far as the linear unfoldment of the child goes, this child grows into adolescence forgetting more and more of its Original and True Nature as the authentic Child Consciousness.  (Hear this gently with your heart.  There is nothing but good going on in spite of the appearance to the contrary.)  The impostor’s belief of having to defend itself against a world has deepened.  The belief system, what we believe we are and the image we offer to the world, has become entrenched with these feelings of inadequacy, lack, guilt and fear.

Beyond our conscious acknowledgement is the belief and thought that “I am not good enough” or some derivation of that.  This is where psychology and therapies were beneficial in my journey of Self-discovery as they helped me become aware of the woundedness of my psyche and the addictions and passions that held me imprisoned.  “Blessed is the lion which the man eats, and the lion will become man; and cursed is the man whom the lion eats, and the lion will become man.”  (Jesus, The Gospel According to Thomas)

We must begin to uncover and undo these fallacious beliefs about ourselves.  Until we do, we will seek outside ourselves for completion, fulfillment, attainment and happiness.  And as no permanent happiness can be found outside oneself, the pseudo-identity keeps its specious nature intact by projecting the blame on the external event, situation or person.  The impostor will play the victim or the victimizer casting responsibility outside itself instead of taking responsibility for its own unhappiness and what it believes about itself.

The egoic-me will use all sorts of strategies to seek this happiness outside itself that will forever remain unfound.  It may even enter the ranks of the “seeking” who seek to find the spiritual truth.  And this will only lead to the pendulum swinging between the opposites of happiness and suffering, with the seeker trying to avoid suffering and forever chasing after happiness.  True happiness is only found within Oneself and as Oneself.  It is the me-sense impostor, identified as the body, which is the cause of all suffering.  In the words of the Eastern traditions, the body-mind identity believes itself to be the subject of objects while in reality it is but a mere object delineating the Transcendental Subject or Witness.

THE AWAKENING

Jesus said, “If you will know yourselves, then you will be known and you will know that you are the sons of the Living Father.  But if you do not know yourselves, then you are in poverty and you are poverty.”  (The Gospel According to Thomas)

We come full circle and return Home; we awaken from a dream, so to speak, to our birthright, our Original identity.  We make the Divine Inversion and “return” to Awareness and The Child Identity we have been from the “beginning” and find that Home is The Meadow right here and right now, “closer than breathing and nearer than hands and feet”.

The ‘pathway’ from ignorance to Light (as it seems) is like one daydreaming aboard a Ship, looking at the wake in the far distance, then following that wake backwards toward the ship where one is; thence finally in time, awakening to the Presence of Ship whereon one sits and learns of the qualities and attributes of Ship. Aboard the Ship, one looks back at the wake and sees everything there Confirming the Fact of Ship, his experience seeming like a long swim to reach the knowledge that Identity is perfectly birthed – and berthed – within the Ineffable.”  (William Samuel, The Child Within Us Lives)

Somewhere in time, we begin our search in the arenas of religion, metaphysics, science, the occult, psychology, etc.  We begin seeking for the meaning of life and why we are here.  After we have been frustrated, and have suffered enough with one disappointment after another, we finally realize that we, as the seeker, are caught in a vicious circle.  The one who is seeking will always be the seeker until it dawns on an emerging awareness that the seeker is the fiction and liar from the beginning.  At this point, if we are fortunate enough, we come upon the Solipsistic statement which declares that Mind and its Awareness are one Mind and that the doer or seeker is but an impostor and is to be seen for the illusion it is.

And so we begin our subjective studies and we don’t stop until we get it straight.  We learn of The Child (The Subjective Witness), the way The Child lives and acts (The Equation), and we are told of The Meadow, The Place where The Child of us lives.  We begin to live more childlike, trusting, and we learn to let go of our dishonesty, passions and addictions and all the mental gymnastics that we perform in order to keep our false image of self intact.

From my journal: “Come bigger and bigger, stronger and stronger.  Make me nothing, for I am no thing already.  Let me realize That which is already The Truth.  Identity is no thing and yet I seem to be a thing.  Identity is no place and yet I seem to be somewhere.  Identity has no boundaries and yet there seems to be boundaries between me and Thee.  All of this is the illusion.  All of this seems to be because of the mis-identification with and as the body and illusory mind.”

And from another journal entry: “And we come to this more and more, precept upon precept, as we are willing to surrender our individual identities.  We do this using any method we want, whatever seems reasonable and appropriate.  It is a matter of being more and more present.  We do this by watching the mind and the seeming separate identity that we have been calling “me”.  We do this by overcoming the passions (lusts and addictions).  This takes great discipline.  It takes great willingness.  It takes a readiness to make oneself uncomfortable for a while, for just a while.  But it is indeed difficult in the beginning.  Just to watch and slow the mind.  The willingness not to be right.  The willingness not to justify our positions.  To be willing to watch the resistance of the mind.  The resistance to surrender.  The resistance to letting go.  The resistance to overcoming.  Yes, in truth there is no overcoming.  But while we are mis-identified, it seems to the mis-identity that there is an overcoming.  But as this one grows weaker, and the resistance is less, and the desire grows firmer, it then becomes apparent that any overcoming is part of the illusion, part of the mis-identity, part of the paradox that is to be understood.”

This message is one of childlike simplicity.  We live the equation of giving and receiving of our tangible sustenance and our spiritual insights, those glimpses and glimmers that arrive from within the Heart of us.  We look at the world subjectively, and we acknowledge The Child within as the authentic, original and genuine Identity.  These are not strategies but the natural doing, the non-doing.  This is the way The Child lives in the world and as the world.  The Child knows that the world that is perceived is within and is also the very body of Himself/Herself.  Awareness has no gender.  Male/female are the balanced pair emanating from the One just as is the whole of tangibility and its infinite possibilities.  The Child lives spontaneously recognizing and understanding the flow of Light and Love from the inside to the outside and the outside into the inside with Identity balanced between the inside/outside equation.  We become more and more aware of the two that are one and we see this equation in all of life.

We let go of complaining, judging, blaming, condemning, justifying, and anger.  We subdue our passions.  We live and understand the paradox that there is no goal.  We come to know that this linear sequential unfolding is perfect and that it is The Transcendental Child that is being birthed into this space-time continuum and what is really going on is the adventure of the linear expression of Self Discovery.

I have come Home to The Meadow of simplicity and contentment.  As Bill Samuel once wrote, “I am here and now standing knee-deep in heaven, and have always been.”

The Meadow has been given to me to tend to just as God tends to this Awareness I am.  It is the same for the Awareness/Reader reading these words.  It is in these words that I have written throughout this paper that I am trying to do for my world as it has been done unto me.

When the Awakening takes place and The Child and The Equation is lived, the glimpses and glimmers arrive almost without ceasing.  When these glimpses and insights are confirmed in the world (the other ear), we are told to share them and publish them for “our” world.  And so it is, and so it is done.  Amen.

Jesus said, “What thou shalt hear in thine ear (and) in the other ear, that preach from your housetops; for no one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel, nor does he put it in a hidden place, but sets it on the lampstand so that all who come in and go out may see its light”.  (The Gospel According to Thomas)

To the reader;
If any of these words have seemed helpful, it is important to remember that the authority lies in the awareness that is doing the reading/listening.  The Child within you lives and these happy words are Its confirmation in the objective world of your own Subjective Viewing.

If you have an interest in these studies and would like to continue with your exploration and investigation, please feel free to email me with any questions you may have regarding this subject matter.

 The Ocean-Wave Analogy

A pondering and conceptual pointer to the Real identity that we are:

Imagine with me for a moment a body of water and let’s call it The Ocean of Self Discovery.  Let us continue with this thinking and develop the notion that we are a particular wave upon the surface of this body of water.

As we identify as this particular wave, there is the sense, the notion that we are this wave here, and there are others waves there.  And there appears to be an almost infinite number of separate waves each distinct from the wave that we believe we are.  And all of these other waves also believe that they are different and separate from the rest.

Each wave upon the ocean is claiming, “I am this”, or “I am that”.  There are those waves who take pride and are arrogant because they are the largest and the best waves for the surfers of the world.  Some waves think that they are better than the surfing waves because they are calm and gentle and allow the small children to play.  They scorn the surfing waves with a false humility, thinking that they are inappropriate with their surfing activity.  Other waves claim that their variety of wave is the finest or the most holy because of their own particular beliefs and perspectives.  And, then there are those who feel unworthy or not good enough because of the opinions or views of some of the other waves.

One day a Wave comes along and speaks to some of the waves, those that are willing to listen, and shares with them that their belief and sense that “I am this wave and I am separate from those other waves over there” is not real; that it is an illusion, a mistaken identity that they have believed themselves to be.  “This sense of self is the me-sense, a hypothetical identity superimposed on the Real identity of each wave”, says the One.  Most of the waves laugh or scorn this Wave and its perspective and cast all sorts of aspersions at it.  “Blasphemer!” accuses the waves of religion; “Nonsense!” from the waves of intellect; “Ridiculous!” cries the waves of all those who are unwilling to surrender the I-concept, the me-sense they believe they are.

But there are those that remain and listen to this Wave as it explains conceptually of their Real Identity and how the mistaken identity is the cause of its prejudices, judgments and suffering.  The question is asked by one of the listening waves, “What is the Real Identity and how do I find it?”

The Wave, awakened to the dream of time, matter and the pseudo-identity, makes a statement and asks a question: “When the notion of a personal sense of identity is understood and surrendered (here a little and there a little), the misguided thoughts of being better than, less than, or different than other waves will start to disappear and the answer to your question becomes Self-evident.  My question to you is this: “When all definitions, descriptions, labels and beliefs of what a wave is supposed to be or not be or supposed to do or not do is surrendered, what remains?  What remains as the Real Identity, the essence of each wave, when size, shape, religion, color, belief, anger and blame are discarded?”

When this is honestly answered and understood, the reason for the ocean, the supposititious identity, and the apparent suffering that seems to take place within ones experience is then understood, and what a wondrous day that is.

Herein lies the mystery and the Truth of who and what We are.

The Ocean of Being

Upon the surface of My body, My waves rise and fall
I have so many faces, so many different shapes and designs
Each wave an extension of Myself just being a wave
Even as some of them begin to pound against the shore.

But in the deep of Myself, there is calm
Even as the storm begins to rage upon the surface
The Ocean I am is still, even while the rest of me begins to heave
The clouds darken, the season changes, and identity alone is at Rest.

I return to the calm of Myself
While the storm acts out its fury
I behold the whole of Me and know that all is well
As I watch the waves dissolve back into Me.

The Sun begins a new day,
My waters are quiet, gentle and serene
I have so many faces, I have to remind Myself
That all that I see is the ocean I be.

The Winged Butterfly

There is a Grand Good arriving on the scene.  It is really not arriving at all because It is already Here, right now, closer than the breath we take.  And we find That which is already here as we become (this is how it seems) more aware of our original nature.  The Good that I write about and have found for Myself is not found in our life situations (although grand things seem to happen) but is found as Our Original and Authentic Being.  And this Grand Good/Being comes as a Feeling of Joy, Tranquility, Contentment.  And this Joy does not disappear in spite of the appearances of evil or what we judge as bad and negative.  “A thousand to my left, ten thousand to my right, but no evil shall come to thy dwelling place”.

It is difficult to speak of these things and when I do I am accused of being naïve, unrealistic, too childlike, or I have my head buried in the sand.  On the contrary, I am more alive and peaceful than ever before and I am willing to give my blood and dollars to those that need it.

Allow me a metaphor:

Imagine what a caterpillar experiences as it is breaking out of its cocoon on its journey of becoming a butterfly.  As a caterpillar, it only knows its experience from its limited point of view.  It knows about the leaf it lives on and perhaps a whole tree.  But what does it know of the forest and flowers that live outside its limited viewing point?  And once the caterpillar enters the cocoon stage, it enters a dark and scary place.  It is presumed that a caterpillar does not think or feel, but please, allow me metaphor.  All metaphors break down, but I believe this one makes a good point.

In that darkness, the caterpillar might even call the experience evil, certainly threatening and there is uncertainty about the future.  And then the struggle and fear continues as the caterpillar starts to break through and out of the cocoon.  But oh, that grand day arrives, the day good arrives on the scene as the caterpillar breaks through the cocoon existence and behold, the butterfly emerges and is on the scene.  The winged Butterfly now becomes aware of Something marvelous that could not be seen from the caterpillar’s limited point of view as it travels from flower to flower almost unlimited with Its new point of view.  The Butterfly with all its beauty and new experiences knows what no other caterpillar knows and yet also knows that each caterpillar will experience the same Event.  If the Butterfly went back to the other caterpillars to tell of this Wonderful and Good Event that is about to arrive, it would be shunned and possibly stoned.

How do you tell of such things?  How do you tell of the Wonder and Joy that is spread over the whole face of the land, but men perceiveth It not?  How does one tell that the evil in the world is perfect just the way it is and that it is part of a Grand plan of Awakening and that it is Man’s recalcitrance and arrogance that causes the evil in the first place?  It may look like it comes from some insane group of people, and yes, we must not allow such people to act this way, but for me I realize that man is a single identity about the business of breaking out into a new day.  And, behold, I look upon a new-found world with new-found eyes.

There is a Grand Good awakening and just like childbirth, there are the birth pangs and contractions that precede the birth of the child.  There is a Child that is birthing, a new Consciousness, the Soul of Man.  Watch and see.  It isn’t long until the Light of God is made evident for all Mankind.

I am not talking about some religious bull or airy fairy new age nonsense.  I am talking about man returning within to his Heart and finding Himself/Herself more than just a human, but a Soul and Spirit.  We find that we are not a human being having a spiritual experience but a Spirit having a human experience.  We find that we have always been the Winged Butterfly but have fallen asleep and the process of awakening sometimes seems dreadful and frightening.

Sandcastles

Stretched for miles, white sand, almost endless
Beautiful blue water, white caps breaking upon the shore
Seagulls and pelicans diving for their morning meal
And children playing in sun glistened sand

I sit myself down watching the encroaching tide
Sand between my toes, my fingers beginning to dig
Just close enough to waters edge so sand and water can mix
As the castle wall begins to appear, form where none was before
The moat is built, tunnels appear and anticipation dwells within
For the race is on as the tide creeps ever closer
Tempting the fates, can the work be completed
Before the onrush of water leaves the castle all crumbled?

Filled with excitement as the castle is finished
I sit and watch, feeling content, body all covered with sand
The waves move relentlessly upon the outer wall –
The final battle between water and sand
Walls and towers crumbling into the deposited water – the castle has no reprieve
Within a few moments the castle and all structures are gone
Nothing left but faint remains of a fun filled day
A Child’s day, when imagination soared
When time and mind did not intervene

As I look upon the day’s play
I cannot but notice that only the form is gone
The sand that shaped my little world hadn’t gone anywhere
Only the form had changed, nothing lost

The Child Heart of Life understands
Waves and ocean, water is the essence
So too, beach and castle, sand is the essence
One Awareness (Life), many forms

Onward to Easter: A State of Mind

Perhaps the end days and the end of time is the end of the egoic mind, dreaming, looking and finding evidence of its self-existence, continually viewing what it thinks and believes about itself. Surely it is. The divine spark of Self-remembrance (H.S.), imprinted within the dreaming mind, is awakened in its perfect time. With willingness does self begin to place its awareness as attention (chooser), more and more into the sacred space of Self-remembrance. As this is done, the Chooser is freed from the bondage of mis-identification and is stabilized HERE, WITH and ultimately As the Sacred Self. The first stage of this conceptual mapping of minds journey to Freedom is the experience of equanimity, unmoved by the change of seasons and mind’s machinations. It is here, that self/mind is seen for the nothingness it is, and the genuine subjective Identity begins the second stage that is the consistent contemplation and abidance as God's Self-Awareness. The final stage is when all objects of perception are transcended, recognized and Known as Self-reflection; the witness, the witnessing and the witnessed are SEEN as One Self in the activity of Self-expression (extension).

Awareness resurrected, transcending time and space, we have become the DOOR, between the invisible and visible, the door between God and His sons sharing the good news, God's Son is One, Innocent and Free. God's Son can suffer nothing and We are His Son. We do this in our given way; a smile to another in the grocery store, a friendly hug to an old friend, a gift of a can of beans given to a hungry person or Words like these that try to point to the Joy of Being. The Child heart of Each of us will lead the way, and all we are to do we will be given. It will no longer be our doing, but God's Doing. It is Now, a truly forgiven world.  What better example than the carpenter from Galilee and the time of Easter.

The Meadow - from Awakening in the Meadow, 2006

We awaken as The Child in The Meadow and we clap our hands with joy and celebration. We look upon The Meadow with the eyes of innocence, compassion, imagination and spontaneity. We leap from flower to flower with excitement, enthusiasm and anticipation of the next joy we are to discover.

We are always in The Meadow, albeit not consciously. We realize The Meadow when we awaken from the dream of mortality, from the dream that we are a man or a woman, that we are this body. We awaken from the sense and concept of a "me" that would play the role of possessor of awareness.

The Meadow has been called heaven on earth. It has been called The Kingdom within and without, the Garden of Eden.

"Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and give unto God what is God's". (Jesus)
Just so, The Child we are lives the Equation. We give to our Subjective world our tangible substance and we receive back from our world the supply that we seem to need. This means that we give the bag of potatoes to the hungry, and we clothe and give shelter to those who need our help. For as it has been said, "As we give to others, so shall it be given unto us". For when we give to our "others" we give to our Subjective Self.  And because the tangible substance we give is Love in action, that love is returned with more Glimpses of Light and Love. Just like the seed, there is a second giving that we do. It is the giving back of these glimpses of Light to our subjective world. And as we do this we receive more glimpses, more light, more joy. Once again we can see the balance and equation of a two that are a single one. We give our gifts both tangibly and spiritually and receive our gifts both tangibly and spiritually. "One cannot know this is a marvel to do until he has done it and lived it so. This is a Self-protected secret." (Bill Samuel, The Child Within Us Lives).

The Meadow is also the Place where we learn to live as Unjudging Awareness. We let go of blame, guilt, labeling and arrogance. We let go of playing the victim and victimizer. We come back to childlike simplicity and innocence. How do we find The Meadow, how do we find That which is already here spread over the whole land, but men perceive it not? It is right here where we already are, but it is veiled, like the clouds which cover the present moon that can't be seen. How do I explain in words that which is beyond words and concepts? How do I use words to describe that which cannot be seen with the eye nor heard with the ear? I can point to the moon, but the finger and the pointing are not it. It can only be discerned and intuited with The Heart of us, The Child of us. Jesus said: "I will give you what eye has not seen and what ear has not heard and what hand has not touched and what has not arisen in the heart of man." (The Gospel According To Thomas)

The Meadow is the linear experience, the sequential unfolding of That which is Timeless and Nameless as it appears in time and space, measured, described and named.

"The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.
The named is the mother of ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one can see the manifestations."
(Lao Tsu, Tao Te Ching)

How does one go about describing the Ineffable which is beyond reason and logic? We can only find The Child and The Meadow when we undo the clouds that veil the Presence already at hand. And that veil is the me-sense, the possessor of awareness. The Meadow is the Promised Land. It is here and now. The Light of The Meadow shines through because The Meadow is the Light of God. The glimpse of Light grows brighter, The Meadow becomes clearer and It becomes more evident and obvious until one day we say, "This is It". I am The Child living in The Meadow. The Light of The Meadow is the Glimpse and the glimpse is The Child emerging from The Meadow. The Glimpse breaks through the shell, the hardened crust of the "old man", the me-sense, the one who is searching for that which is already his birthright and inheritance. It is life more abundant.

"Let me tell you a paradox," Han said to the soldier. "The world in which we awaken each morning is not the Real World. It is an image of the Real. But those who know the world is an image of the Real, wake up in the Real World every day. This is a paradox and it is the truth." (Bill Samuel, The Child Within Us Lives).
